Thoreau once wrote that "If one advances confidently in the direction of his dream, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."
I came across this in the process of advancing confidently in the direction of getting paid for work -- an advance unblocked lately -- while my dream looks on, wondering when it's his turn to get up early and type.
My life these days is mostly comfortable, and the sun is rising.
In my teens, I had a rat I named Thoreau.
My dad loved that little bugger with an ease that eluded him for everything else.

"my dream looks on, wondering when it's his turn to get up early and type." i love that.
ReplyDeleteI understand that if the Thoreau - the poet, not the pet - he'd be clerking at Circle K. The pet would prolly be president by now, though.
